We spent the first couple of days just wandering around; 1) because it was extremely windy and cloudy for the most part, and 2) the best possible thing you can do in Tulum is rent bikes and explore…so we did just that. We rode a couple miles to the super market to purchase necessary items like: conditioner (which shockingly was hard to find in the store), gin & tonic, chips, and more sunscreen.
Our hotel had the worst wifi… but luckily, if you were desperate (like I was) to contact your mom, you could go to the restaurants and they would give you their wifi password. We also were able to meet up with a mutual friend who moved from Brooklyn to Tulum and worked at a nearby resort… she gave us her wifi… and in return I gave her a giant hug.
Most of our nights weren’t spent watching Netflix, looking at Instagram, or endless minutes of “What do you want to order on Seamless?…..I don’t know.” We bonded over scrabble, endless amounts of crosswords, and I actually read a book in 2 days.
End Result: I got a tan, and my brain hurts.
